Safety & payments
Kids and money are involved. Here’s exactly how we handle both.
No fine print, no vague promises — this page describes what the platform actually enforces.
For parents and guardians
Minors need verified guardian consent
Athletes under 13 cannot create their own account. Athletes 13 to 17 must provide a parent or guardian’s email during signup — the account stays restricted until the guardian verifies by email. The guardian, not the athlete, approves the account before it can do anything on RosterUp.
Your card details never touch our servers
Every payment on RosterUp is processed by Stripe, the same payment infrastructure used by millions of businesses. RosterUp never stores card numbers.
A clear, automatic refund policy
If a trainer cancels a paid session, you receive a full refund automatically — including all fees. If you cancel more than 24 hours before the session, you receive a full refund. Within 24 hours of the session, the booking is non-refundable — that window protects trainers from last-minute no-shows.
For trainers
Payouts through Stripe, to your own account
Trainers are paid through Stripe Connect. Before you can receive money, Stripe requires you to verify your identity — the same onboarding every Stripe-powered business completes. Session payments route to your connected account on Stripe’s standard payout schedule; RosterUp keeps a 5% platform fee on paid bookings.
Cancellations protect you too
When a player cancels inside the 24-hour window, the session fee is yours. When you cancel, the player is made whole automatically — refunds claw back the platform fee as well, so nobody profits from a cancelled session.
